Hello all,

I have currently simulated an injection molding process in LS dyna using ALE/Euler formulation. I want to know which keyword I can use to incorporate initial temperature in the fluid and also boundary condition for the mold surface, as I want to simulate the cooling of the fluid.

Thank you.

Hi @charu

Sorry that I missed this topic. Did you find a keyword that worked for initial temperature for a fluid? And did you get the correct boundary condition for your mold surface?

@negativevolume

we can use the initial temperature boundary condition for the combined structural and thermal simulation. In my case what I found out is that I am using *MAT_ALE_VISCOUS as the fluid material which allows for the use of viscocity vs strain rate curve, but there are no Thermal material available in LS dyna which allows for Viscocity vs Temperature curve. After some research, I found out that it is a shortcoming in ls dyna and I can do my simulation in only one temperature and cannot show the solidification of the ALE fluid in the  mold.

@charu ah I see. Did you look into using something else like Ansys or Abaqus?
