Hello everyone

I want to model a floating iceberg without modeling the water. I want to float it by applying gravity as a body surface and buoyancy as a surface force (as a function of depth). Does anybody have any idea about how LS-DYNA can understand the equilibrium point of a floating object (because for applying pressure as a function of depth, the first step is to identify the water surface)? And how to apply pressure as a function of depth?

I appreciated if you can share with me any tutorial similar to this problem with me.

Thanks

Hi @mahdi_o,

This seems like a pretty complex problem. I think you may have to model it as Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) which is not what your goal is. You could always try to experiment with pressure volumes to represent the water but I’m not sure how accurate that will be.

I also found this tutorial on hydrostatic pressure but is not exactly what you are looking for:
