I am trying to model a rectangular coated metallic plate with ice on top of the coating. Using shells, I am able to account for the offset between the plate and the coating with a tied contact, more precisely, the *CONTACT_TIED_SHELL_EDGE_TO_SURFACE_CONSTRAINED_OFFSET. However, if I try the same with the coating and the ice, LS-DYNA returns the warning message:

*** Warning 40552 (SOL+552)
tied node # 2357 on the slave side of surface # 1
type # 7 also belongs to interface # 2
TIED CONSTRAINT IS RELEASED.

According to http://public.beuth-hochschule.de/~kleinsch/Expl_FEM/2012_Explizit_Kontakte_UM.pdf (page 84), the issue appears by the SMP version of LS-DYNA and, apparently is solved by the MPP. But I have found that regardless the version, the same message appears, even if the plate and ice are declared as slaves and the coating as master of both contacts. Does anyone know how to tie the coating nodes to the other two shell surfaces? Many thanks in advance.
