When I set a displacement in the axial direction as a displacement control, the nodes lose the freedom to rotate, no matter if I restrain the lateral DOF of the nodes. I think I have to constrain all nodes of the solid elements to a reference point rather than a node_set to apply the boundary conditions and displacement control using prescribed boundary motion.

But my problem is how to define a reference point in Ls-Dyna? Can anyone give some suggestion to the problem I am facing?

Hi @sonlong

I'm not sure what you mean by "constrain all nodes of the solid elements to a reference point"

You are performing a displacement controlled test of some kind in the axial direction but you want to allow the nodes to rotate along the axial axis?
