Hi guys,

I am working on the Hopkinson bar for my project but unfortunately I have a big problem about the mesh.

When I mesh the bar with the function "elem offset", the mesh come distorted (see fig).

Can anyone tell me how to keep the mesh straight?

Any help is welcome

I attached a picture to clarify the problem

Thanks in advance

Hi @marso1

Try following the instructions in this post which utilizes the 3D meshing tab. Use the circular end to mesh a 2D quad mesh and refine it how you like, then use that as the source for the 3D mesher which will pull that patter along the geometry.

Hi @negativevolume !!!

Many thanks for your help.

I read the instructions in the post which you suggested,  As the bar is straight, I used the function "Drag" and the mesh is much BETTER!

Thanks again
