Hello everyone,
I'm actually a student working in fracture mechaincs problems, investigated with finite element methods. But when it comes to programming an algorithm for the meshing part, i can't find a good source, and it seems like everyone can do it and it's easy while there is not enough sources.
i'm hereby asking for any helps and documentations for arriving to creat a simple 2D simulation.
hi , ls-prepost has an in built meshing algorthm....
Also you can use Hypermesh to mesh the components
Hi @hitman_ondo,
Meshing has a massive range in difficulty depending on what you are trying to accomplish. It also depends on what software you have access to and what FEA solver you will be using.
Hypermesh has a free student edition if you are a student.
https://altairuniversity.com/free-altair-student-edition/
If you are using LS-Dyna, then LS-PrePost is free and has some basic meshing tools.
There is also IA-FEMesh which is free and has the capability to create hexahedral meshes (most difficult) from radiology scan data.
