I would like to know how to make the model with overlapping nodes between adjacent elements in LS-PrepPost.

Simply put, it is like the FE model loaded in the sample below.

https://www.dynaexamples.com/introduction/examples-manual/contact/tied-1

The background to this question is that we would like to consider fracture based on *CONSTRAINED_TIED_NODES_FAILURE instead of ADD_EROSION.

I would be appreciated if anyone have any solution for this.

Sorry, I know this was posted a while ago. In order to create a disconnected mesh with overlapping nodes, you just need to take the mesh you want to "break" and in LS-PrePost go to Element tool -> Detach Elements -> Select Node -> then select all nodes in the part and click detach and accept.

Then you will have a coincident node part that you can create a node set to reference in the *Constrained_tied_nodes_failure. Then you just need to define the failure strain and the element type. Just make sure you are using a compatible material.
