Dear All,

I have a line geometry with a length of 100 cm which is meshed with beam elements. The material is considered to be elastic with E=80 GPa. Now I want to add an extra 10 cm segment to its distal end (the total length of the new part will be 110 cm). However, the elastic modulus of the additional 10 cm segment decreases linearly throughout 10cm (it is E=80 GPa at the connection point and decreases linearly to E=10 GPa at the distal end)

First, how to model the material property of the additional segment? (I tried the material model_24 as mentioned in http://www.lstc.com/dynamat/ by defining the curve in LCSS. I set the curve as a line with an offset of 10 GPA and a final value of 80 GPa over the range of 100%)

First, I am not sure if the material definition is correct; second, how should I define the extended part (110 cm with two different material properties) as a unit part?

Any help is appreciated.
