Hello everyone,

I am a student working on repositionning THUMS v7.1 in a standing position for a project. I would like to use musclle activation to contract muscles in order to extend the legs.

My purpose was at first to apply a moment on the legs for them to rotate, without any muscle activation, but when I did that, the quadriceps muscles (vastus medialis, intermedius and lateralis) were blocking the displacement of the patellar tendon, which gave a weird result for the knee. As a consequence, I would like to use muscular activation for the vastus muscles to contract in order to let the patellar tendon move.

I am ot sure weither it is possible to only use muscle contraction to reposition the THUMS in a standing position, or if I should still use an external force, but I need the quadriceps muscles to contract to get a realistic result.

When I tried adding normal muscular activation (with the include files) on the repositionning simulation with a moment applied to the legs to make them extend, I observed that nothing had changed and that the muscles did not move at all. Could you help me set up muscular activation to achieve the repositionning? I am having troubles understanding how it works and I don't seem to find many answers in the documentation.

Thank you fr your help,

Best regards,

Louise
