Hello all,

I am trying to do an Injection molding simulation in ls dyna and I want some help in considering the procedure. As far as I know, I need to consider Eulerian mesh for the plastic flow and Lagrangian mesh for the cavity and couple them. If anyone has worked in fluid flow or injection molding simulation before please let me know which keyword to use for the injection process with varying pressure at the inlet. I have attached a screenshot of the finished product. The mold cavity has exact dimensions, but hollow.

Ps: I have checked in dynaexamples, but could not find any example suiting my needs.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Charu,

I haven't done injection molding by far but I did plenty of FSI (both pure Eulerian and ALE). For your case, if you are not interested in the stresses/deformations of the form (or cavity) itself, you might just skip it (no Lagrangian mesh) and assign boundary conditions onto the outer surface of the Eulerian mesh (mold).

Regarding the inflow, please check the *Section_Solid keyword and the AET keyword - if set to 4, it allows for pressure inflow, which, I believe, can be controlled using a *Define_Curve as a function of time.

Cheers,

Ivaylo

@if4ou

Thanks for your reply. I will post the result once I am finished.
