Modeling Energy/Shock Absorber for Lanyards

Hi, I was wondering if you have tips on how to model energy/shock absorbers that are found in lanyards and fall safety protection systems. Thank you.

So you could ”simulate” a lanyard or spring using 1D *Element_Discrete and definite the part as a type of spring material. Or you could try to explicitly model the helical structure using beams and then define it with a rubber like material. Could be interesting to try both methods and compare how they differ in response.
