Hello,

I am running an explicit simulation with a crushable foam material.

I tweaked the explicit solver settings up and down but the results are not good. The force is osciallating strongly:

I can be seen in the animated gif whats happening. The foam is "collpasing" strangely. I also ran implicit, however i do not fully trust the implicit results, although they are smooth.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hmm kind of looks like the elements are hourglassing. What solid element formulation/hourglass control is your foam? It’s also a bit of a weird compression point for the mesh. Have you tried rotating your foam 45 degrees so you don’t have that vertical seam in the direct load path?
