Hey

I created a 3d model of a structure in autocad by creating several solids and combining them. I then did the meshing for the model in ansys then imported the keyword file into ls-prepost.

What I got was several separate parts which I combined into 1 part using the move/copy tool (attached) but the model still behaves like it is made out of separate parts. Is there a way to combine these parts into a single solid or perhaps a certain contact type that can achieve that?

Thanks 🙂

Hi @thain,

The issue that you are running into is that the mesh between those parts is not connected. Two elements can be in the same part but if the mesh is not connected (sharing nodes) then the two elements will still respond independently from each other. There was probably an issue combining the solids. Did you do this step in ANSYS?

@negativevolume

I haven't tried that, I'll give it a try. Thank you.

@mogud Have you tried the advice that was previously suggested? If yes, what are the results?
