Hi,

I am currently running into an issue where I am getting negative volume errors for my impact simulation. My whole particle is being deleted. I want to see the full deformation of the particle on the substrate when it impacts.

Model Info:

  • I am trying to model the impact of a 20-micron-sized aluminum particle on an aluminum substrate at 1000 m/s.

  • *ERODING_SINGLE_SURFACE with SFSA = 100, EROSOP = 1, DEPTH = 2.

  • Johnson Cook material model.

  • Both particle and substrate as *SECTION_SOLID, with ELEFORM = 0

  • *HOURGRASS with all default values.

  • *CONTROL _TIMESTEP is also all default. My termination time is 1e-4 ms.

I'm fairly new to LS Dyna. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
